2007 Issue of Local Carriage Stamps
150th
Anniversary of the Rona Lighthouse
On the
1st of January 2007 we launched our latest ‘Rona’ issue of local
carriage stamps to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Rona
Lighthouse.

A first day cover is for sale featuring an outline drawing of the Rona lighthouse, with the two new stamps franked on Rona with the Rona hand stamp and dated 1st January 2007, plus a Scottish lion rampant first class stamp franked by Portree sorting office dated 1st January 2007.

The first day cover has
a card insert with a view of the Rona Lighthouse taken on a summers evening by
Mike Webster and Calum McVay. On the left hand side there are three small black
and white pictures of the lighthouse supply boat and pier in 1931 and the
building which was used as an unofficial light at the South harbour. Information
about the Rona light and the black and white photographs are on the reverse of
the card.
The cost of the first day cover is £5.00 plus post
and packing. The FDC will be sent as usual in a stiff A5 envelope and marked ‘do
not bend’.
Single stamps or sheets of the £1.00 and 30p stamp (18 and 16
stamps per sheet) are also available.
P&P UK/Europe £2.00, P&P
